Tata Chemical's Launch I-Shakti Dals In Gujarat

Posted On:
If there is a single food dish that reaches the core of every Indian's heart, it is a warm bowl of a simple, home cooked Dal! Dals are not only a rich source of protein; but also the mainstay of every Indian's diet. In order to reach out to people across geographies, Tata Chemicals extended its I-Shakti brand of salt to introduce a range of dals. Post the successful launch of 'I-Shakti Dals' in ni

e states across the country, this range was introduced in Gujarat.

The i-Shakti Dals will be available in 4 popular varieties i.e. Chana, Toor, Urad and Moong (including Moong Chilka). These dals being unpolished and unprocessed, packed in hygienic conditions aid faster cooking; giving good taste and flavor along with protein power. The 'i-Shakti Dals' have been reasonably priced between MRP Rs. 95/- to Rs 105/ for a 1 kg pack and will be available in SKU's of 1 kg and 500 gms.

Speaking on the launch of the pulses in Rajasthan, Ashvini Hiran, Chief Operating Officer - Consumer Products Division, Tata Chemicals Limited, said, "We are happy to introduce yet another first in Staples for the households in Gujarat - Dals which are a result of due care taken in every process - from seed to food, therefore the term 'from farm to fork'. We are overwhelmed by the response in the states where i-Shakti pulses have been launched and we hope to provide healthy and hygienic dals to many more households across the country.

Today the demand of 18 million tons exceeds the annual supply of 15 million tonnes! This gap arises as Indian population is majorly dominated by vegetarianism thus creating a dependence on imports and pushing prices of pulses steadily over other food commodities in recent years.

Tata Chemicals, taking cognizance of this situation, joined hands with Rallis India Limited to leverage upon their strength with a large section of farmers across India. Tata Chemicals with its wide reach in Northern and Eastern India and Rallis India with a strong network in Southern and Western India, successfully completed pilot projects towards 'Farm to Fork' as

modities in recent years.

A pilot project under the aegis: 'Grow More Pulses' was launched as a PPP (Public, Private Partnership) in Punjab and Tamil Nadu. Through this program the farming community in India is going to be induced to cultivation of pulses, post which the procurement and marketing of 'i-Shakti Dals' will be undertaken.
